Pieter Vorenkamp – “Tim’s Dad”, Live For Others Foundation, COO, Syntiant Corporation

Pieter Vorenkamp received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Twente University, Enschede (The Netherlands) in 1989.
He is Tim Vorenkamp’s father. Tim founded the Live For Others Foundation (www.L4OF.org) in December 2015, with the sole purpose to find a cure for Synovial Cell Sarcoma, a very rare form of soft-tissue cancer diagnosed primarily in teen-agers and young adults.

He is a 30-year semiconductor executive.

In May 2017 he joined Syntiant Corporation as co-founder and COO. Syntiant, headquartered in Irvine, CA, is pushing cutting edge machine learning from the cloud to edge devices. Utilizing breakthrough technology, intelligent devices are free of cloud connectivity enabling ubiquitous machine intelligence that is always on while consuming ultra low power.

Between April 2016 and February 2017, he was GM and SVP at Cadence Design Systems, where he managed a $200M IP business.

Prior to that, he spend more than 18 years at Broadcom Corporation where he held a variety of senior engineering management positions, including Operations Engineering and Central Engineering.

Prior to joining Broadcom, he was a research scientist, developing high-speed, high-resolution data-converters for Video and Instrumentation Applications at Philips Research (The Netherlands) and Philips Semiconductors (France).

He is a consultant for IMEC (Belgium), the world-leading R&D innovation hub in nano-electronics and digital technologies.

He is serving on the Technical Advisory Board of several semiconductor companies. He is an author of many international publications and is a named author of over 125 patents.
