World renowned experts in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) technology are joining forces to break new ground in clinical implementation.
The immersive experiences made possible through VR, AR, and MR have proven benefits in pain management, communicating with patients and training staff which promise to transform healthcare.
But as yet clinical implementation is limited because this tech is still seen as futuristic and impractical, but attitudes are rapidly changing.
Dr. Vishal Nangalia, an NHS England Clinician Entrepreneur, said: “I think five years ago if I walked into my department wearing a VR pair of goggles, people would say, “What the hell are you doing?”
“Now, some of them will still look at you with a little bit of bemusement, but instead they will say, “Ok this is great! But where’s the publication behind it?”
“And you can actually come out with, actually here’s some of these publications that show this is good for payments for this, that, etc. So I think the culture shift has started to happen.”
Dr Nangalia will be joined at AIMed Europe 2018 by a plethora of leading thinkers and experts who are changing the perceptions of VR tech from future fantasy to modern reality.
They will be giving a comprehensive overview of the application of AR, VR, and MR technologies in a clinical setting. Attendees will gain the following knowledge:
– Developed understanding on the differences between AR, VR, & MR
– Informed analysis on the latest trends in the clinical use of AR, VR, & MR
– Leading clinician perspectives on barriers to adoption and how to effectively overcome them
– Benchmarking success both from a provider and patient perspective
– Key criteria to consider when selecting relevant software & hardware partners
