SUMMARY:Accelerating the pace of AI deployment in healthcare
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time:\nThursday\,  March 4th: 10.30am – 11:00am (EST)\nAbstract:\n“We have all this great knowledge that gets developed\, but doesn’t get implemented. It all takes too long and that’s just shameful. Things that could save a life or dramatically improve people’s health sit in a different orbit. It’s so frustrating to see it stay stuck in the research orbit and not helping people.”\n\nEric Topol\n\nThe potential of artificial intelligence to transform healthcare is widely acknowledged. But how do we convert that potential into reality? How do we make this change happen at the systemic or even global level in order to save lives or dramatically improve people’s health\, as Dr Topol stated in a recent interview with AIMed?\n\nIn this exclusive webinar\, Dr Anthony Chang will be joined by some of the executives leading the charge in harnessing the potential of AI to transform healthcare. The panel will highlight the opportunities presented by AI\, as well as the key barriers to deployment\, drawing on direct experience to recommend how healthcare organizations can overcome these.\nSpeakers:\nDr. Anthony ChangFounder AIMed\, Chief Artificial Intelligence OfficerChildren’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Eric Eskioglu\, MDExecutive Vice President\, Chief Medical and Scientific OfficerNovant HealthMaia Hightower\, MD\, MPH\, MBACEO & Founder;Associate Chief Medical Information Officer & Sr. Director Health Equity\, Diversity\, and InclusionEquality AI ; University of Utah HealthNick Patel\, MDChief Digital OfficerPrisma Health\nTo register for free\, simply submit your details below:

SUMMARY:Behavioral Health: Using AI to predict suicide\, depression and opioid misuse before it happens
DESCRIPTION:Partner:\n \nAbstract: \nThe Covid-19 pandemic isn’t the only public health crisis facing America. According to Accenture\, nearly 58 million adults and 8 million youth between the ages of six and 17 in the U.S. have mental health and/or substance use disorders\, yet only 43% of affected adults are receiving treatment for them. Since the start of COVID\, there has been a significant spike in the use of virtual behavioral health services. While effective for continued support and care\, virtual health services like telehealth\, webchat\, and voice therapy were not designed to catch individuals on the cusp of developing a behavioral health condition. The number of undiagnosed and rapidly deteriorating patients is surely to increase as time passes leaving our health system in yet another predicament. \nJoin Dr Carlo Viamonte\, Medical Officer at Anthem and Dr. John Frownfelter\, Chief Information Officer at Jvion and Karen Murphy\, Executive Vice President and CIO at Geisinger to discuss the need for widespread adoption of clinical AI how AI-driven analysis of relevant risk factors for suicide\, substance abuse or self-harm can save behavioral health providers the guesswork in predicting who is at risk and payers the ability to manage underlying and hidden risks proactively and effectively. Additionally\, AIMED will be sharing the results of a recent industry survey during related to the current state and future of AI investments across payer and provider organizations. \n  \nRegister:\n \nSpeakers:\nDr Carlo Viamonte\, Medical Officer\, Anthem \nDr John Frownfelter\, Chief Information Officer\, JVION \nKaren Murphy\, PhD\, RN\, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer\, Geisinger \n

SUMMARY:On-Demand: Population health and social inequities
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\n“If we are not careful\, AI will perpetuate the bias in this world. Computers learn how to be racist\, sexist\, and prejudiced in a similar way that a child does. The computers learn from their creator – us.”\nAylin Caliskan\, computer scientist\n\n \n\nThe COVID-19 pandemic and the protests for racial equality rage on unrelentingly as dual forces that are forcing change. There is an underlying irony in that\, even in the pandemic that can be indiscriminately lethal for any human on this planet\, there is a very obvious and disheartening racial disparity in morbidity and mortality.\n\nWhile there is a myriad of ways that artificial intelligence can automate or perpetuate historical discrimination in healthcare\, perhaps there is also a way for artificial intelligence to neutralise this injustice. Although the ethics of algorithms is in its infancy\, there is some existing work in the form of the IEEE P7003 Standard for Algorithmic Bias Considerations that is presently under development as part of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems. This effort is aimed at methodologies to eliminate issues of negative bias in the creation of algorithms so that characteristics such as race\, gender\, sexuality\, etc. are protected.\n\nIn this exclusive webinar\, our expert panel discuss the context\, the challenge\, and possible solutions to the bias conundrum\, weighing the roles of machine and human intelligence as well as data science and ethics.\n\nClick here to Watch On-demand\n\n \nSpeakers\nBrooke NewmanDoctorate of Nursing Practice (Learner)Candace Makeda MooreData scientist and medical doctorDr. Anthony ChangFounder AIMed\, Chief Artificial Intelligence OfficerChildren’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Victor F. SUMMARY:On-Demand: Breaking Through the Bottlenecks: Successful Translation of AI into Clinical Radiology.
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \nIn spite of the promise it holds and the anticipation it has generated\, artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine is not immune to bottlenecks translating the technology from research to clinical practice. Medical professionals are often not actively engaged in developing these AI-based applications and tools. On the other hand\, industrial experts submerged in the effort lack relevant knowledge and deep understanding of the challenges faced by clinical staff. As such\, there remains a significant gap between cutting-edge innovation and what goes on in real life. \nFurthermore\, the large datasets required to efficiently train AI algorithms are hard to come by. They are even more difficult to curate properly without the direct input of medical professionals who realize the importance of these technologies. Coupled with the lack of infrastructure to continuously validate and scale up the developed algorithms\, translating AI into clinical practice remains near yet so far. \nClick here to view on demand\n  \nSpeakers: \n\nDr. Anthony ChangFounder AIMed\, Chief Artificial Intelligence OfficerChildren’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) R. SUMMARY:On-Demand: Transforming patient care through imaging AI
DESCRIPTION:Abstract: \nTalk of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has abounded in radiology circles for some years now. Their potential to revolutionize radiology practice\, and in particular image analysis\, is significant. And for some\, the future of radiology has already arrived\, reducing variability and enabling greater efficiency and accuracy. \nBut how is this working in clinical practice? What are the barriers to implementation of AI solutions and\, most importantly\, what are the outcomes for patients? How can technology providers best support clinicians? \nIn this exclusive webinar\, leading radiologists will discuss the clinical applications of a cutting edge brain imaging AI in the evaluation of patients with dementia\, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury\, including examples of clinical cases with multimodal brain imaging (MRI\, icobrain\, FDG brain PET-CT and Amyloid PET). \nClick here to view on demand \n  \nSpeakers: \nDr. Suzie BashMedical Director of Neuroradiology San Fernando ValleyFrançois NicolasChief Digital Officer\, Guerbet Orest B Boyko\, MD\, PhDAssociate Professor of RadiologyUniversity of Southern California \n  \nSupported by: \n \n

SUMMARY:On-Demand: Continuing the discussion for successful translation of AI into clinical radiology
DESCRIPTION:Abstract \nIn the earlier AIMed webinar\, speakers touched upon challenges hindering the real adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical radiology. As most radiologists share a rather speedy and hectic workload\, AI tools that require extra plug-ins or taking up additional study time may not be well-received. Likewise\, it may not be of the domain’s interest\, if a new solution cannot be seamlessly integrated into the existing Picture Archiving and Communication (PAC) system\, regardless of how effective or efficient it may be. \nIn general\, speakers suggested bridging the gap between ideas and reality. Clinicians who are passionate about data science and AI should gather and bring both radiology and technology closer. On the other hand\, tech guru should consult fellow clinicians to address the real and immediate needs. In spite of the informational session\, there were issues such as obtaining the right data to train AI algorithms\, educating patients and the next generation of clinicians on the benefits of AI\, and whether the existing regulations could support and further accelerate new technologies\, remain unexplored. \nAs such\, in this upcoming webinar\, speakers will continue their discussion of what contributes to a successful translation of AI into present clinical radiology. \nClick here to view on demand \nSpeakers: \nEmily WatkinsSolution Architect\, Pure StorageSamir Shah\, MD\, MMMVP Clinical OperationsRadiology PartnersTessa CookAssistant Professor of Radiology University of PennsylvaniaDr. Ross FiliceChief of Imaging InformaticsMedStar Medical Group Radiology \nSupported by:
