AIMed inaugural as a once-off satellite meeting back in 2016. Over the past three years, our team witnessed a steady growth of attention and audience. Nevertheless, the mission remains unchanged: that is to bring healthcare professionals, technology experts, business partners,
25 more days later, we will launch our first subspecialty event at Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, Illinois. Cardiology and Radiology are two clinical regions which show a relatively higher adoption of AI presently because of all the advanced imaging tools that are robustly available and employed. This is why we see the value of hosting separate subspecialty conferences in these two areas. Both AIMed Cardiology and Radiology will be 1.5 days long, between 17 and 18 June for the former and 18 and 19 June for the latter.
Primarily, the two subspecialty events will be dominated by practical sessions and workshops. Attendees may find themselves learning new ways to examine medical imaging with the use of data science and programming through live demonstrations. On top of which, there will also be sharing sessions for attendees to learn more about the different aspects of AI from machine learning, cognitive computing, to natural language processing.
Most importantly, in the open seminars, distinguished guest speakers will share with fellow audience, their insights into AI Cardiology and Radiology. Specifically, tips on how to embark adopting new technologies into the workflow, ways to make AI less cumbersome to work with, ethical questions revolving around AI adoption, how does AI ensure patients’ wellbeing while not compromising on their safety/privacy, differentiating between hypes and realities, as well as how will the industry progress in the next decades or so.
The guest speakers for AIMed Radiology
Although the list is not yet finalized, here are the snippets of our guest speakers and the topics which they will discuss.
Dr. Sonia Gupta
Abnormal Imager; Director of Ultrasound at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; Instructor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School; Chair of the American College of Radiology Young Professionals Section and Consultant for Google and IBM Watson Health.
Dr. Gupta will be discussing the New Power written by Jeremy Heimans and Henry Timms, which predicts the factors that will come into play as the race in AI unfolds in the realm of radiology and wide healthcare landscape. Specifically, the expected power shift from physicians to patients as knowledge becomes free-flow and the importance of collaborations between physicians, industry, engineers, and patients to shape AI in medicine
Dr. Ross Filice
The Associate Professor and Chief of Imaging Informatics in the Department of Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Chief of Imaging Informatics at MedStar Medical Group Radiology will talk about AI in Radiology without images. While most AI tools target on image-based use cases, there are also other equally powerful deep learning techniques which aim to improve quality and efficiency. Dr. Filice will be elaborating on some of these techniques using examples that have been deployed in practice, together with subjective experience assessments and performance characteristics.
Dr. Lawrence Tanenbaum
Radnet’s Vice-President and Director of Advanced Imaging will share more about AI and machine learning based enhanced tools. Some of these tools have the capabilities to tremendously increase the speed, resolution, radiation dose, and overall quality of advanced imaging studies. He will demonstrate the capabilities of imaging AI as well as the challenges ahead.
Dr. Tirath Patel
An experienced radiologist based in Houston with an interest in the societal and ethical implications of AI in radiology. Dr. Patel will bring
Director of Machine Learning at MGH & BWH Center for Clinical Data Science will share the collaboration between his organization and Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, which focuses on developing AI algorithms to improve patient care, translating them into clinical practice and commercialization to maximize patient benefits.
