Dr. Emilie Bourgeault is a Franco-Ontarian from the small community of Kapuskasing in Northern Ontario. She has received her MD in Medicine from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2011 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in 2007. She then completed a five-year specialization in dermatology at Laval University in Quebec City, where she currently practices dermatology full-time and lives with her husband and two young children.

Over the years, Emilie has developed both an interest and an expertise in general dermatology, paediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology. She often goes back to her hometown of Kapuskasing to visit her family and takes this opportunity to provide dermatology care for patients of Northern Ontario where dermatologists are in short supply.

In 2016, Emilie and her dermatologist colleague Marc-André Doré decided there had to be a better way to care for patients. They looked around and found no way, so they stitched up their own. Piece by piece, with the help of Marc-André’s brother, Jean-Philippe Doré, they built something they could love: DermaGo a modern virtual dermatology clinic.

Launched in Quebec in 2018, DermaGo was the first teledermatology service to see the light of day in Canada. Close to 10,000 consults have been successfully completed using the platform ever since.

Encouraged by this success, Emilie, Marc-André and Jean-Philippe founded a new healthtech venture called OROHealth in 2020. OROhealth uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to transform how people access and experience healthcare.
