Abstract

Data science holds the potential to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of cardiology workflow, as well as improving patient outcomes. Artificial intelligence is already being used to predict those at risk of heart disease at a population level, as well as other risk prediction modelling being done in the clinical setting. There are many barriers to success, however, including gaining clinical and organisational buy-in, the availability of good quality data, and bridging the gap between clinicians and data scientists to ensure that AI-powered solutions respond to real clinical needs.
