Ziad Obermeyer is Associate Professor and Blue Cross of California Distinguished Professor at UC Berkeley, where he does research and teaches at the intersection of machine learning and health. He is a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator, a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and was named an Emerging Leader by the the National Academy of Medicine. His work has been published in a wide range of journals, including Science, Nature Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and ICML. He has won awards from professional societies in medicine and economics. He is and continues to practice emergency medicine in underserved communities. Previously, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Co., and an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.
