Dr. Louise Sun is a cardiac anesthesiologist, AI epidemiologist and Director of Big Data and Health Bioinformatics Research at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. She is also an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences in Ontario, Canada, which is a provincial center of excellence for health policy and health services research.
Dr. Sun’s research leverages big data to tackle key issues in healthcare delivery and outcomes for patients with heart failure and/or undergoing cardiovascular interventions. Her team zooms in on sex/gender epidemiology, patient engagement and personalized medicine, through an integrated predictive analytic approach that is a hybrid between advanced statistics and machine-learning. Her work has garnered global interest, including interviews and editorials in the US, Canadian and European news networks. She collaborates with health authorities and policy makers to evaluate and report on models of cardiac healthcare delivery.
