In 2002, Rob finished school with an offer to study languages at Edinburgh. He took a part-time job as a ward clerk in a paediatric unit to get him through the summer … and 18 years later he’s still working for the NHS, now as a specialty doctor in a busy cardiology unit.
It’s a passion for helping people that kept him in healthcare, and it’s that same passion that makes him so excited about AI in medicine. Rob has been developing clinical software for over a decade, so he has first-hand experience of the exponential power of frontline experience combined with technical know-how. He’s in the second year of a computer science PhD, investigating how emerging AI approaches can improve the day-to-day care we deliver to patients.
